Role Overview

Hire Resolve is recruiting a detail-focused and experienced Creditors Clerk for a well-established company within the construction sector based in Maitland, Cape Town.

This position is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where accuracy, accountability, and strong supplier management are essential. The role focuses heavily on construction-related financial processes, including invoice processing, reconciliations, and cost tracking.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all supplier payments and financial records are accurate, properly authorised, and fully compliant with company procedures.


Key Responsibilities

Invoice Processing

  • Process supplier invoices and delivery notes daily with high accuracy
  • Ensure all financial data is correctly captured in the accounting system
  • Verify that all supporting documentation is complete and valid before processing

Authorisation and Document Matching

  • Match invoices with purchase orders and delivery confirmations
  • Ensure all documents comply with internal approval procedures
  • Confirm proper authorisation before payment processing

Supplier Account Reconciliations

  • Perform regular supplier reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts
  • Maintain accurate creditor balances and reports

Financial and Cost Reporting

  • Assist in preparing material cost reports
  • Support creditor accrual account reconciliations
  • Contribute to accurate financial reporting for construction projects

Supplier Liaison

  • Maintain professional relationships with suppliers
  • Follow up on outstanding invoices and queries
  • Resolve billing and payment issues efficiently and professionally

Inventory and Administrative Support

  • Assist with stock capturing and inventory-related financial records
  • Maintain organised digital and physical filing systems
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance department
  • Assist with switchboard duties when required

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Creditors Clerk or similar role
  • Strong background in the construction industry is essential

Education

  • Minimum Matric (Grade 12)
  • Relevant qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping (preferred)

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (non-negotiable)
  • Experience with BuildSmart or EJM accounting software (highly advantageous)
  • Basic understanding of VAT, especially in construction environments
  • Strong numerical and data accuracy skills
