Job Overview
Pedros is seeking a commercially focused and strategically driven Brand Manager to take ownership of the Bird & Co and Wackys brands. This role is ideal for a marketing professional who understands how to build strong, relevant brands while delivering measurable commercial results. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping brand strategy, executing integrated campaigns, and ensuring consistent brand delivery across all customer touchpoints in a fast-paced, multi-brand restaurant environment.
This position is based at Head Office in Newlands East, KwaZulu-Natal, and requires a hands-on individual who can balance creativity with data, brand storytelling with performance, and long-term brand equity with short-term business objectives.
Key Purpose of the Role
The Brand Manager will be responsible for leading brand strategy, positioning, and execution for Bird & Co and Wackys. The role requires translating business goals into impactful brand initiatives, managing end-to-end marketing campaigns, and working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that all brand activity contributes directly to sales growth, customer engagement, and overall brand health.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Strategy and Positioning
- Own, manage, and continuously evolve the brand positioning, tone of voice, and visual identity for Bird & Co and Wackys.
- Ensure that each brand has a clear, differentiated positioning that resonates with its target audience while aligning with the broader Pedros group strategy.
- Translate business objectives into well-defined brand strategies and annual marketing plans.
- Ensure brand strategies are informed by customer insights, market data, and commercial performance indicators.
- Act as the brand guardian, ensuring long-term brand consistency while allowing room for innovation and relevance.
Campaign Planning and Marketing Execution
- Lead the full campaign lifecycle, from initial briefing and concept development through to execution, launch, and post-campaign evaluation.
- Develop clear and effective creative briefs for internal design, digital, and content teams, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and campaign objectives.
- Coordinate media planning and campaign calendars to ensure optimal timing, reach, and frequency.
- Manage budgets carefully to ensure campaigns are delivered on time and within approved spend.
- Oversee marketing activity across multiple channels, including in-store, digital platforms, social media, paid media, and promotional materials.
Commercial Performance and Reporting
- Track, measure, and analyse campaign performance against key performance indicators such as sales uplift, foot traffic, customer frequency, brand awareness, and return on investment.
- Use data and insights to identify what is working and where improvements are required, applying learnings to future campaigns.
- Work closely with finance, operations, and leadership teams to ensure marketing efforts contribute tangible business value.
- Prepare clear performance reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, translating data into actionable insights.
Stakeholder and Agency Management
- Act as the primary brand custodian across internal teams, including operations, digital, product, and executive leadership.
- Manage relationships with creative agencies, media partners, PR agencies, and production suppliers to ensure high-quality output and consistent brand execution.
- Build strong collaborative relationships across departments to ensure marketing initiatives are aligned and effectively implemented at store level.
- Provide clear guidance, feedback, and direction to partners and stakeholders to maintain brand standards.
Brand Consistency and Governance
- Ensure brand consistency across all customer touchpoints, including packaging, menus, in-store signage, digital platforms, advertising, and promotions.
- Review, approve, and sign off all brand assets, campaigns, and communications before release.
- Protect brand integrity while enabling agility, innovation, and responsiveness to market trends.
- Maintain and update brand guidelines as required to support consistent execution across the business.
Innovation and Growth
- Support product and menu innovation teams by contributing brand insight from concept development through to launch.
- Identify opportunities for brand growth, partnerships, collaborations, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Stay informed about consumer behaviour, competitor activity, and emerging market trends within the QSR and retail sectors.
- Proactively recommend new ideas and approaches to keep the brands relevant, competitive, and appealing to evolving customer needs.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Experience:
- 3–5 years’ experience in Brand Management or Marketing Management.
- Proven experience working in a Brand Manager or similar role, preferably within QSR, FMCG, retail, or hospitality environments.
- Demonstrated success in leading integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
- Experience working with internal agencies and cross-functional teams.
- A track record of working on successful, well-established brands.
Technical and Professional Skills:
- Strong strategic thinking ability with a commercial and results-driven mindset.
- Solid understanding of brand performance metrics, campaign measurement, and marketing ROI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Confident decision-making skills and the ability to take ownership of outcomes.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
