Company: Catch
Location: Sandton, Gauteng
Employment Type: Permanent
Industry: Financial Services
Job Functional Area: Sales
Posted: 05 January 2026
Minimum Experience: Not Applicable
Catch is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven German Speaking Sales Account Manager to join its growing Johannesburg-based team in Sandton. This is a strategic sales role suited to an ambitious professional who thrives in a performance-driven environment and has a strong interest in financial services, tax technology, fintech, or SaaS-based solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving revenue growth, expanding the company’s client base, and positioning Catch as a trusted long-term partner in VAT reclaim and tax compliance solutions.
This role is ideal for someone with strong commercial instincts, excellent relationship-building skills, and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders across international markets. Fluency in German is essential, as you will work closely with German-speaking clients and prospects, supporting them with complex VAT reclaim and compliance needs.
Role Overview
As a German Speaking Sales Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full sales lifecycle, from lead generation and prospecting through to negotiation, closing, and ongoing account management. You will work closely with the Head of Sales and internal cross-functional teams, including Product, Legal, and Customer Success, to deliver tailored, compliant, and value-driven solutions to clients.
The role requires a consultative sales approach, where understanding client challenges is just as important as closing deals. You will engage with decision-makers, finance teams, and tax professionals, positioning Catch’s VAT Reclaims software as a reliable, efficient, and compliant solution to complex tax challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development and Sales Growth
You will actively identify, research, and pursue new business opportunities using a combination of personal networks, market research, and digital sales tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator and ZoomInfo. This includes outbound prospecting, lead qualification, and nurturing relationships with potential clients across German-speaking markets. A strong focus will be placed on achieving and exceeding sales targets while contributing to sustainable long-term growth.
Client Relationship Management
Building and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships with clients is central to this role. You will engage clients to fully understand their VAT reclaim and tax compliance needs, offering tailored solutions that align with their business objectives. You will act as a trusted advisor, ensuring clients feel supported throughout the sales process and beyond onboarding.
Solution-Based Selling
Rather than transactional selling, this role requires a deep understanding of VAT reclaim processes, tax compliance challenges, and how technology can simplify and automate these functions. You will clearly articulate the value proposition of Catch’s VAT Reclaims software, demonstrating how it reduces risk, improves compliance, and drives financial efficiency.
Negotiation and Deal Closure
You will manage the end-to-end sales cycle, including proposal development, pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and deal closure. This requires balancing client expectations with business objectives, ensuring timelines, pricing, and scope are clearly defined and agreed upon.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Successful delivery depends on strong collaboration with internal teams. You will work closely with Product teams to understand system capabilities, with Legal teams to ensure regulatory alignment, and with Customer Success teams to support smooth onboarding and long-term client satisfaction.
Market and Regulatory Awareness
Staying informed about market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes is essential. You will continuously monitor changes in global tax compliance and VAT regulations, particularly those affecting German-speaking regions, and share insights internally to refine sales strategies and client messaging.
Pipeline and CRM Management
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities using CRM platforms such as Salesforce. This includes managing your sales pipeline, forecasting revenue, tracking performance against targets, and providing regular reports to leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
To succeed in this role, candidates should have a strong background in sales, ideally within tax, fintech, SaaS, or professional services environments. Experience gained within large professional services firms such as EY, PwC, Deloitte, or KPMG is highly advantageous, particularly where exposure to tax, compliance, or financial advisory services was involved.
A minimum of three years’ sales experience is required, with a proven track record of achieving or exceeding targets and driving measurable business growth. Experience in people management or leadership roles is beneficial, particularly where performance metrics and KPIs were used to drive team success.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification will be considered an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels of an organisation. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, particularly when managing complex client environments with multiple stakeholders.
You should be highly organised, self-motivated, and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment. A strong understanding of CRM systems such as Salesforce, as well as sales enablement tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator and ZoomInfo, is required.
Fluency in German and English is essential, both written and spoken, as the role involves frequent interaction with German-speaking clients.
Additional Advantageous Experience
Experience in global tax compliance, VAT processes, or related regulatory fields will be highly beneficial. Familiarity with tax technology platforms or regulatory software solutions will further strengthen your application. Previous exposure to fast-paced startup or scale-up environments is also advantageous, as it demonstrates adaptability, resilience, and a proactive mindset.
