Job Overview
Clinix Health Group (Pty) Ltd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cath Lab Supervisor to join the team at Dr SK Matseke Memorial Private Hospital. This role is ideal for a qualified nursing professional with experience in theatre and catheterisation laboratory environments who is ready to step into a supervisory position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care while overseeing a team within a specialised unit, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
Purpose of the Role
- Deliver safe, high-quality patient care in a specialised Cath Lab environment
- Supervise and support nursing staff within the unit
- Ensure compliance with healthcare standards and protocols
- Collaborate with doctors and multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic patient care
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Nursing Degree or Diploma
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) qualification
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Theatre and Cath Lab
- Experience in a private hospital environment (advantageous)
- Computer literacy
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Duties
- Deliver nursing care in line with SANC regulations and Scope of Practice
- Conduct basic patient assessments, including monitoring vital signs, intake, and output
- Record and update patient care plans accurately
- Prepare patients and equipment for Cath Lab procedures according to doctor preferences
- Escalate any patient-related concerns promptly
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to SANC, Department of Health (DOH), and National Core Standards
- Follow patient rights and advocacy principles
- Participate in internal and external audits (DOH, SHERQ, Risk Audits)
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and clinical governance
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, organise, and lead nursing staff within the unit
- Monitor staff performance and ensure adherence to protocols
- Conduct regular unit rounds to ensure patient safety and compliance
- Support training, development, and continuous professional development (CPD) of staff
Administration & Documentation
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Update care plans as patient conditions change
- Manage stock and medical equipment within the Cath Lab
- Ensure availability and proper use of all necessary resources
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with doctors and multidisciplinary teams
- Provide support to patients, families, and the community
- Ensure clear communication within the healthcare team
