Role Overview
The Shop Assistant plays an important role in ensuring the smooth daily operations within the retail depot. This includes assisting customers, handling stock efficiently, maintaining store standards, and supporting the overall flow of goods.
This is a hands-on position that requires physical activity, attention to detail, and a strong customer service mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Assist customers with product information and loading of goods
- Provide friendly, efficient, and professional service at all times
- Build positive relationships with customers and colleagues
Stock Handling & Control
- Receive, move, and pack stock accurately and safely
- Ensure products are correctly displayed and replenished on shelves
- Support stock control processes and maintain accuracy
- Assist with stock rotation and organisation
Store Maintenance & Operations
- Maintain cleanliness and order within the depot and shop floor
- Ensure shelves and displays are neat, organised, and accessible
- Support general housekeeping and operational duties
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
Team Support
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth operations
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment
- Uphold company values and standards at all times
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification
- Previous experience in retail or a depot environment (advantageous)
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
- Willing to work weekends and public holidays as required
- Clear criminal record
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of Johnson’s clothing (advantageous)
