Role Overview
A leading retail pharmacy group, Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited, is seeking a professional and customer-focused Customer Consultant for its Glen Acres store.
This role is centered around customer engagement, service excellence, and support of in-store customer benefit programmes. The ideal candidate must be confident in handling queries, resolving complaints, and maintaining strong customer relationships in a busy retail environment.
Core Purpose
To provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product and service enquiries, resolving complaints efficiently, and ensuring accurate administration of customer benefit programmes and in-store promotional activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Service & Support
- Interact with customers and provide accurate information on products and services
- Handle and resolve customer complaints and queries professionally
- Assist customers with general store-related enquiries
- Maintain a helpful, courteous, and professional approach at all times
2. Data Capturing & Administration
- Capture customer data accurately into internal systems
- Ensure completion of all required documentation
- Manage customer records, statements, and account-related queries
- Process and report transactions using TRMS systems
3. Customer Benefit Programme Management
- Check card balances, statements, and loyalty reports
- Ensure accurate allocation of manual points
- Manage recruitment and registration of new customers
- Communicate programme benefits and updates to customers and staff
4. Stock & Promotional Control
- Manage promotional stock such as gifts, vouchers, and marketing materials
- Monitor inventory of customer benefit items (baby bags, goody bags, kits, etc.)
- Control shrinkage and ensure stock accuracy
- Ensure proper display of promotional materials in-store
5. Communication & Reporting
- Escalate complaints, compliments, and queries to senior staff or management
- Maintain customer service diaries and reporting systems
- Respond to written and email queries timeously
- Ensure internal teams are informed of programme updates
6. Events & In-Store Promotions
- Assist with coordination of in-store events and promotions
- Ensure visibility of marketing signage and benefit programme materials
- Support promotional campaigns and customer engagement initiatives
7. Compliance & Policy Adherence
- Follow company SOPs and customer service procedures
- Adhere to POPI Act and Consumer Protection Act requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (minimum 60% in English, Afrikaans, and Maths Literacy)
- At least 1 year experience in administration or public relations
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous Requirements
- Qualification in Administration, Customer Service, or Public Relations
- Experience with SAP systems
- Third additional language
