Role Overview
The VKB Group is seeking an experienced and strategic Credit Manager to join its VKB Financing division in Polokwane.
This role sits at the core of agricultural finance operations, supporting farmers and agricultural clients through effective credit management, risk control, and financial decision-making. The position requires a strong balance of financial expertise, relationship management, and leadership ability within a fast-moving agribusiness environment.
Core Purpose
To manage credit operations within VKB Financing, ensuring sound financial performance, regulatory compliance, and strong client relationships while supporting sustainable agricultural growth and development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Operations Management
- Oversee all credit-related activities within the department
- Monitor and manage overdue accounts and financial deviations
- Ensure compliance with VKB credit policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate credit records and reporting systems
2. Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and manage annual operational and capital budgets
- Monitor financial performance against targets
- Analyse monthly income statement deviations
- Ensure financial sustainability of credit portfolio
3. Risk & Compliance Control
- Ensure adherence to credit legislation and internal risk frameworks
- Review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure regulatory compliance across all credit activities
- Support internal and external audit processes
4. Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers and clients
- Resolve customer queries and complaints timeously
- Conduct negotiations on credit terms and facilities
- Provide ongoing financial guidance to clients in agriculture
5. Leadership & Team Development
- Oversee HR-related functions within the department
- Manage training, leave, and staff development planning
- Support succession planning and team capability building
- Promote a performance-driven team culture
6. Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with internal departments and external agricultural stakeholders
- Support business growth through strong client engagement
- Collaborate with operational and finance teams

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Credit Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8–10 years’ experience in credit management or similar role
- Strong understanding of credit legislation and compliance
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Experience in customer negotiation and financial analysis
