Job Overview
OVK Group is an established agricultural business operating across multiple areas of the agricultural value chain. The organisation is seeking to appoint two Learner Programmers to join its IT department on a 6-month contract basis.
The role focuses on supporting the development, maintenance, and improvement of internal software systems used across the OVK Group. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are either completing their studies or have foundational practical experience in software development and are looking to gain structured workplace exposure in a real business environment.
Main Purpose of the Role
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the development and maintenance of computer programmes and systems used within the OVK Group. The role supports operational efficiency by ensuring that IT systems function correctly and meet business requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following:
- A three-year tertiary qualification in IT Software Development
OR - Currently in the final year of studying towards an IT Software Development qualification
OR - Grade 12 with at least 3 years of practical experience in software development

Successful candidates must demonstrate the following abilities:
- Strong communication skills in both Afrikaans and English
- Excellent computer literacy and technical ability
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Strong organisational and planning ability

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, writing, and maintenance of IT systems and software programmes
- Support operational IT requirements across the OVK Group
- Provide technical assistance and IT-related services to management and departments
- Maintain proper documentation and administrative records related to system development
- Ensure systems remain functional, updated, and aligned with business needs
