Job Overview
Fidelity ADT is seeking a qualified and experienced Security Alarm Technician to join their technical team in Jeffrey’s Bay. The role involves installing, maintaining, and commissioning advanced electronic security systems at commercial and industrial sites.
This position requires a strong technical background in security systems, excellent fault-finding ability, and the capacity to work independently in the field while delivering high-quality service.
Main Purpose of the Role
To install, configure, and maintain electronic security systems including alarms, CCTV, access control, and fire systems at client premises, ensuring full operational functionality and compliance with industry standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Electronic Security Technician
- Strong experience in programming, wiring, installations, and fault-finding
- Valid Code 08 driver’s licence
- PSIRA registration (Grade E, D, or C)
Key Technical Responsibilities
- Install and program multiple alarm systems (Ajax, Paradox, Texecom, Caddx, IDS, DSC, Rhino, Risco)
- Install and maintain electric fencing systems
- Set up and configure CCTV systems (including smart features such as facial recognition and line crossing)
- Integrate alarm systems with CCTV and electric fencing solutions
- Install and maintain wireless, fibre, and copper network systems
- Perform basic electrical installations including DB boards, UPS systems, inverters, and generators
- Provide IT and network support where required
- Install and maintain access control systems (biometric, UHF, facial recognition, card-based systems)
- Oversee technical execution of larger installation projects
Operational Duties
- Program systems according to technical specifications
- Plan and coordinate cable routes with installation teams
- Obtain customer access codes prior to attending service calls (including standby shifts)
- Complete installation handovers and ensure client satisfaction
- Accurately complete job cards after every service or installation
- Provide detailed feedback to supervisors and call centre after each job
- Maintain stock control and assist with stock takes when required
- Ensure company vehicle is kept clean and in good condition
- Submit fuel and operational expense records (petrol slips)
