Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier for their Watercrest store. The role focuses on delivering efficient and accurate point-of-sale service while ensuring a high standard of customer experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing transactions, handling payments securely, and maintaining accuracy in all cash-related activities in line with company policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- At least 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical ability
- Good command of English (written and verbal)
- Basic customer service skills
- Willingness to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
Point-of-Sale Operations
- Process all customer purchases accurately and efficiently
- Handle various payment methods including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty rewards
- Ensure correct scanning of all items and transactions
- Process exchanges and authorised returns
Cash Handling & Control
- Maintain accurate cash flow at the till at all times
- Secure all cash in accordance with Dis-Chem procedures (drop safe system)
- Ensure confidentiality and security of daily takings
- Prevent and report any discrepancies or suspicious activity
Customer Service
- Provide professional and friendly service at all times
- Maintain positive relationships with customers
- Handle customer queries and escalate complaints appropriately
- Stay informed about promotions and ongoing store specials
Compliance & Store Procedures
- Follow all Dis-Chem policies and standard operating procedures
- Ensure zero tolerance for transaction inaccuracies
- Ensure security procedures are strictly followed
- Prevent fraud risk through careful attention to detail
