Purpose of the Role
- Provide professional pharmaceutical support to patients
- Assist in dispensing and managing medication safely

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Experience working on Unisolv system
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Strong numerical ability
- Good command of English and a second language
- Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous Qualifications
- Knowledge of retail or FMCG operations
- Third additional language
- Experience with SAP and E-Scripting systems
- Knowledge of family planning, complementary medicine, and drug therapies
Key Responsibilities
Dispensing & Pharmaceutical Support
- Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines
- Support preparation, compounding, and packaging of non-sterile medicines
- Assist in interpreting prescriptions under pharmacist supervision
- Ensure correct labelling, packaging, and supply of medication
- Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use
Stock Control & Administration
- Manage stock of Schedule 1–5 medicines and assist with ordering up to Schedule 6
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies
- Assist with stock takes and maintain FEFO (First Expiry First Out) principles
- Receive and store dispensary stock according to SOPs
Customer Service & Patient Care
- Assist patients at the dispensary and front shop
- Explain medical aid costs and processes
- Promote health awareness and provide general advice
- Maintain accurate patient profiles and update system records
Claims & Compliance
- Process medical aid claims accurately
- Correct rejected claims and ensure proper authorisations
- Ensure all prescriptions are checked and signed by a pharmacist
- Follow SAPC regulations and Dis-Chem policies at all times
